Space

The final frontier looks different from up here.  These paintings start with an acrylic fluid base and come to life with planets, stars, and galaxies superimposed with a spraying technique.

Sometimes we just need a word or phrase to inspire and lift us up.  With a background of either geometrics of fluid painting, words are painted in ways that will catch your eye and impact you.

About the Artist

Color, texture, and out of the ordinary techniques are my favorite language for both painting and quilting.

I’m KMP, the artist behind PoorWorx.  I paint feelings and worlds in acrylic and watercolor and stitch quilts that are meant to be used, loved, and passed down.  Every piece is made by hand in my Woodbury, MN studio.

I started painting a decade ago as a stress reliever from my busy and important work in emergency and critical care nursing, then later, as a nursing educator and clinical nurse specialist.  Throwing paint at a canvas, playing with colors and textures, and then either covering it all up again or proudly displaying it is a marvelous way to get out the frustration, sadness, and anger that can sometimes accompany the life of a nurse.

I'm now retired and have more time to play with all kinds of art.  When I’m not in the studio, I’m usually hunting for new color combinations, finding inspiration and ideas from everyday life, or planning the next series. That all means that I need to find good homes for my art so I can continue on my journey.  I hope you find a piece here that feels like it was made just for you.
